Still Working On It
Yeah, yeah... ya want more pictures of the kids. I know. I'm working on it. In fact I was up at 4 AM working on it. We are going to be migrating to a new web site soon (Ahem... Donnie?). We will also be migrating to New Orleans soon. We'll be down there the week of Aug 20 and will be staying at least until Christmas. Nina is in pre school and I will be working on a movie. Donnie will take up residence in his FABULOUS new office in the purple house and all are invited to come see the newly renovated digs. I will post pics. Yes, I will, I promise. I'm uploading as we speak. luv, t.

New Machine
My husband wooed me away from Mac when we met. I was falling out of love with OS 9 and he took the opportunity to show me Windows XP and entice me to the dark side. I took the bait. It was not all bad, some good times were had, but it's over now. Both my computers died recently. I tried Linux, but there were issues; it would not speak to my camera without tweaking every time I wanted to download, I could not read my accounting files, open office could not handle the magnitude of my spreadsheets. So I decided it was time, time to return to my home. Time to buy a Mac.
I've got a beautiful mac book pro. She's the most fascinating computer I've ever seen. Her name is Caprica. I'm in love. She's been good to me so far. She does not hold a grudge or berate me for my years of indiscretion. She is just happy to be here and to serve, with perfection and style I might add.
So send me files, send me pics, send me video if you dare. I can handle it all. I have an intel core 2 duo processor, 2 G of RAM and 160 G of hard drive. I'm livin' large.

The Egg
We don't know which one, but one of the ladies laid the first perfect, brown egg. There were a few before this that were thin-shelled and broken, but this one is just lovely. How exciting! In order to make our money back any time soon we would have to sell each egg for about ten bucks each.... so lets just call it a labor of love and make an omellete.

The New Year
We brought in the new year at home with my cousin Stephanie and her family. There are some great pics of the kids chasing the chickens. My computer died a couple of weeks ago (sigh...) so I've not been able to download pics. Donnie has set me up with a new linux machine so there will be a learning curve involved. I have to use all new software for just about everything. Oh boy. (another sigh...)
We are finally getting some winter weather. It is supposed to go down to the single digits soon and there is snow falling as I write this. I have to say I am much relieved. The notion of us cooking ourselves on this planet gives me the heebie geebies and when it is 70 degrees in Western Mass in the middle of January, global warming does not seem as much like a B movie plot from the SciFi channel as I would like. There are ski slopes here that are going belly up for lack of snow, not just this year but for the last few seasons. That's troubling.
Nina is painting right now. She goes at it like Jackson Pollak. I keep trying to reel her in a bit but it is no use. I need a room for her that I can hose down when she is done. Lola is working on tooths number 7 and 8. She can pretty much eat anything now. I've yet to throw a NY strip at her but I've a feeling she would gnaw it to a nub. She is standing and taking a few steps while holding on to things. She says daddy, mama and nana (nina). She mimicks other sounds and pretty much laughs all the time. She just wants to be where the action is.
We are planning a trip back to NOLA soon. I have to get some focas on the house. I've lost track of where we are at in the renovation. I want to come for Mardi Gras but Donnie can't take that much time off work and it will be too hard to "do" it with the kids without him. And we all know that I cannot sit idle while there is reveling going on.
The parrot just landed on my head. I think she is trying to tell me something... if I only knew what. Nina is now covered in green paint. I better go.
I'll get those pics up in the album today, I hope. -t

Ice Storm
Today is the closet thing we have had to winter this year. There is a an ice storm of sorts going on outside. Nothing crazy, just a beautiful glaze of ice on everything. I can't believe I"m saying this, but I wish there was snow.

Where Does The Time Go?
Wow. That was fast. How the heck did we fly right by Thanksgiving and end up here at Christmas so darn fast? Our camera has been giving me a hard time, thus the lack of new pics on the site. I'll try harder to remember to charge that stupid battery.
Things are moving right along. We have done a bit of work on this house. Painted a room or two, hung some pictures, installed a pellet stove and got a couple new comfy chairs for in front of the fire... it's nice but it's still missing that certain something.
Nina starts full days at pre-school two days a week in January. She loves it there. I'll let her do three days eventually but I'm having a hard time with it even though I could use the time to myself. Lola is standing with no hands... I found her standing next to the tub this evening contemplating a bar of soap that she was holding in both hands. She stands solid as a rock on those little chubby legs. It is the cutest thing. She is vocalizing a lot but no real words yet, just the hint of dada and an occasional mama. Nan claims she said nanny but we're not sure about that.
I've been working as the gallery manager over at Nan's new store. It has been rockin' over there and it's all I can do to keep up. There are a lot of quality artists and craftspeople in this area and we are selling well. I often find myself over there with Lola on my back and Nina around my leg trying to put out stock or meet with an artisan. I start yoga teacher training in January. I'm much psyched about that. There is a great school about 40 minutes from here (everything is 40 minutes from here, at least). I would choose this school even if it was not close by, which is a good thing. The course lasts a year and at the end I’ll be certified to teach.
We've decided to give New Orleans another year to get its shit together and then make a decision about the purple house. The crime is the deterrent at this point. Everything else we could deal with, but not random crime on that scale. I guess the filth is another deterrent. It is boring as hell up here but it is clean, pretty and unbelievably safe.
Donnie is still working with Bowker. They love him. He works a lot. Don’t know what else to say about that.
I’m looking forward to the new year and to some new resolutions. I hope this finds all of you well and happy and having a great time. Peace. Namaste. Mo latah. -t

Deep In the Fall; An Update
Ah, we are deep into fall now. The days are crisp, the nights are cold, the stars are beyond imagining.
The chickens are getting big and have just moved into their new digs in the barn. They still do not have a run but that is in the queue. They have a hatch and a ramp and that is something.
Nina had a birthday last month and is fully enjoying being three. I misplaced my camera on that day and do not have enough pictures to post a full photo doc on the event. There was a bouncy house, cupcakes and gifts, little girls squealing with delight and balloons.
I've painted our living room a deep, dark mohegan sage -- just the color for a winter's night around the fire. We are in search of the perfect comfy furniture to curl up in. We ditched the futon. This is good. I'm also working on painting the bathroom under the stairs a wild color combo that will make it an energizing respite each and every time one enters the room. What else is there to do with a bathroom tucked under the stairs? There are plans for the play room as well which include but are not limited to a pellet wood stove to warm things up this winter. Donnie would like us to depend fully on long underwear but I need more. I want the objects I touch to not give me an ice burn. I want my digits to work when I am trying to type or chop veggies for the evening meal. I want to feel it if I lop off a finger....
Donnie got an electric piano for his birthday back in August, speaking of digits, and he has become quite the concert pianist. Much to my delight he has expanded his repertoire beyond the ONE TUNE he played ad nauseum for quite a while. Nina has also mastered "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". Sometimes she riffs on that theme and goes off into "The ABC Song". Its not a big leap, but there are some subtle differences, especially around the "L M N O P" line.
Lola is growing fast. She eats her weight in puffs everyday. I try to feed her a balanced diet but she is a hard core puff addict. She is standing up now on her own in the crib and playpen. She crawls and sits up but is still head heavy. One wrong move and she goes over like a ton of bricks. She laughs this deep, husky laugh. She is strong like bull. She worships her sister and lights up at the sight of any of us. She is happy to be here.
The poodle is in need of a bath, the cat is still fat but happy and the bird is forever needing more.
What else can I say? That is the news. Come and visit.
Love, tracy
